We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give – Bukit Harapan by CSR Team & Kota Kinabalu’s Team

By Jagjit Kaur (CSR Committee) and Audrey Octavia Teo Chia Chee (KK Branch)

Bukit Harapan began operating its first Home in Keningau on January 9th, 1989. The Rector of St. Francis Xavier Church had offered the use of a vacant house in the compound and so Anne moved in with five Special Children and two helpers. More Special Persons were taken in with a few more helpers and soon Bukit Harapan became better known to the entire community, with the timely exposure to the public through the media. The stay in this second house was also brief and about a year later, Bukit Harapan shifted to Jalan Saga, Likas, Kota Kinabalu where it remained for more than 15 years.

Pac Lease CSR initiative jointly with Pac Lease Kota Kinabalu team, led by Ms Audrey Octavia Teo Chia Chee, has contributed towards their monthly expenses including meals, utilities, rental and salary of a permanent caretaker. We believe the value of life is not its duration but its donation.
